We were delighted to see one of our beautiful kitchens on the BBC programme Britain's Empty Homes. The kitchen featured was a Prentice painted kitchen in John & Pen's gorgeous farmhouse. Their home was shown as the inspiration for what an empty & derelict home can become. Pen & John spent 11 months painstakingly renovating their home and the results are stunning.

This week we have been fitting two new bedroom displays at our Knaresborough showroom. The first is Hepplewhite's Harewood range in a Gardenia (cream) finish - this popular design will suit both traditional and contemporary bedrooms and its timeless appearance will appeal to all age groups. The double sculpted panel design and waterfall edged tops combine to make this range the epitome of grace and sophistication. Available in Gardenia, White or Oak, the overall affect is bright, light and airy.

The second display, located in our front window, is Hepplewhite's new Albany range in a veneered Natural Oak finish. Nothing can beat the natural warmth, texture and colouring of wood. All of our veneered wardrobes and cabinets are crafstman built and finished to the highest standards. The new Albany range brings a delicate and light touch to your bedroom - and will work well in even the most awkwardly shaped rooms!

We have recently completed a fantastic kitchen in Ilkley for Trevor & Brenda Murch. They came to us some time ago with a specific brief - to open up a kitchen & utility into one big space. Their existing kitchen was nearly 30 years old, the walls were clad floor to ceiling in pine and Trevor kept banging his nose on the extractor! Our Senior Designer Heather showed them how by removing a wall they could open up the room giving it a much better feeling of space and light. Heather designed an s-shaped island with an overhanging breakfast bar - so that, on their request, they could eat breakfast over looking Ilkley Moor!

The kitchen itself is Charles Rennie Mackintosh Touch Gloss Ivory with a walnut island - it features a full set of Neff appliances, including an extra wide flushline induction hob, flush fitting ceiling extractor and combi microwave oven. The bank of tall housings at the back of the room also includes an LCD television integrated into a kitchen door! Mr & Mrs Murch chose Silestone Zirconium worksurfaces with upstands and a Kamala Brown Pergo floor and needless to say they are delighted with the result.

'We chose Knaresborough Kitchens because of their innovative design, we also got on extremely well with our Designer Heather and were confident that they would provide exactly what we wanted - and we were proven correct. The icing on the cake was the decoration, having a feature wall where the appliances are - they guided us on colour and even provided their decorator Johnny to complete the whole project - from building work to decoration, they have taken care of everything seamlesly.'

We are delighted to announce that from December we will be offering the fantastic new range of Luce appliances by Hotpoint. Strongly influenced by Italian design but with the quality you would expect from the 100 year old brand Hotpoint, these new appliances will feature a host of innovative features. Luce appliances will only be available from kitchen specialists - so you can try out the doors, feel the quality and see how smart they look for yourself!

Luce appliances come in black glass and fingerprint resistant stainless steel and are designed to co-ordinate with each other. The 45cm compact appliances for example have control fascias and handles that line up and some of the single ovens are completely handle-less with a hidden panel that pops out of the glass when pressed...great when you're looking for appliances to go in your sleek handle-less kitchen!

There are also some other really innovative features - one of the single ovens can be divided in two (see pic) so you could grill in the top compartment, whilst baking in the lower one, or you could cook at two different temperatures - great if you don't have space for a double oven or wish to pair a single oven with a steam oven for example!

The gas hobs use a new patented 'Direct Flame' technology. The flattened burners (see pic) have lots of tiny holes which produce a more upright flame than a standard gas burner, saving 20% in time and energy! Not only that but all the burners and pan supports can be popped in the dishwasher, making the hob very easy to keep clean.

We will have a Luce single oven, gas hob and combi microwave on display in our new handle-less kitchen at the Knaresborough showroom from December, so why not pop in then to have a look and chat about your new Luce appliances...

Yesterday's Cookery Demonstration by the Neff Home Economist was a fantastic success and a great time was had by all. It all started at 2.30pm when Ann arrived to prepare all the lovely food for the day, and we had the first customers through the doors just before 3pm. Ann then continued to cook up tasty treats until nearly 9pm when the last people left for the evening. Throughout the day we had just over 60 people and the whole showroom was buzzing with customers past, present and future, all armed with questions for the team. During the demo Ann made Neff toasties using the Circotherm Oven (no turning or grilling!), pastries using the Circosteam Oven, asparagus & parma ham in both the steam oven and then finished off nicely on the Teppanyaki Hob, white chocolate & apricot cakes, roast potatoes & honey mustard sausages. The highlight however was the fantastic lamb joint she cooked using a combination of conventional heat & steam in the Combi Steam Oven.

Customers left with some fresh cooking ideas, a few upgraded their appliances, but all left feeling full! We would like to thank everyone at Neff, including Derek the Neff Representative who spent a long time explaining some of the features and benefits of Neff appliances to new customers, and in particular Ann, who spent over 6 hours cooking and baking non-stop - it really was a great day and one of the highlights of the year so far. We can't wait for the next one...........!

We recently completed a new kitchen project for Pamela & Peter Lambley of Knaresborough. The pictures below show the original kitchen, building work and some images of the final project, which looks stunning.

They had major surgery to their old kitchen which included taking a wall out between the kitchen & dining room,  installing new windows, replastering the whole room, and installing a beautiful hand made Prentice kitchen. They chose a Silestone worksurface, wine cooler for their Champagne, an American F/F and travertine tiles with underfloor heating. They then added Silestone upstands and splashback to give their kitchen a truly unique look.

Jason who designed the kitchen recalls “Pamela & Peter really wanted to open up the downstairs of their house to create a very sociable space, with French doors leading out into the garden. To be honest once I had the brief from the customer, everything fell into place and it was a real pleasure to design and be involved with the project.''

Pamela says of the experience “we are really pleased with it, it turned out better than we thought. Now we can have friends and family over for dinner, and guests can relax whilst we cook and chat to them. The space is now so light and the downstairs feels much bigger. I only wish we'd done it sooner! I also have a lovely view of the garden from the sink!'' Peter was equally pleased, particularly with the fitting team “Simon was brilliant, we couldn’t have wished for a better fitter - he was so tidy and conscientious, a real pleasure to have in the house.”

In the November issue of influential independent consumer magazine Which?, an extensive selection of over 100 well-known brand electric ovens were tested in 2 categories: Less than £600 and More than £600.

In both categories Neff models came out with top marks, a 'Best Buy' status and very impressive test scores.

In the Less than £600 category, Neff's Series 1 single built in model B14M42 with catalytic linings stood out from the crowd, earning a very high test score and comments such as '....the oven heats evenly and all the cakes we made were baked to perfection. It cooks well, pre-heats very quickly and the grill is outstanding'.

In the More than £600 category, Neff Pyrolytic single oven model B16P42 (Series 5) also earned praise from the testers, earning a top score. Says Which? '...it heats up quickly, heat is distributed extremely well, and it's great at maintaining an even temperature. It also grills evenly and is easy to clean. It comes with Pyrolytic self-cleaning which impressed in our tests'.

These results are very impressive indeed and reflect the quality of Neff as a brand from Series 1 right up to Series 5. We installed a fantastic kitchen in their North Yorkshire cottage, complemented by a mix of walnut and marble worksurfaces, an induction range cooker, double belfast sink & pull out spray tap. The kitchen units are a mix of solid maple and maple veneer from the Cleveland range by Prentice furniture. The base units are sprayed in Smoke Blue and the island in Bamiyan Blue, both Fired Earth colours.

Sophie and Jez are delighted with the finished result, which included knocking a wall down to open up the space to incorporate a bench seating area, providing a very social space to cook and eat in. In July of this year the directors of Knaresborough Kitchens - David & Lynda Dalglish and Matt Johnson took part in the Engage Mutual Midnight Walk in Harrogate and have so far raised over £1000 for a charity that has touched the lives of all three.
